A group of BS Business Administration students called TITAN RESEARCH TEAM won FIRST PRIZE in the National Finals of the 2005 Globe G-nius Search for the Great G-CASH Idea last November 21, 2005 at the Filipinas Heritage Library, Makati City. The team is composed of DAVID JAMES S. RAMOS (Team Captain), JONATHAN ACACIO, KRISTOFFER GIL S. ANTONIO, JUAN PAOLO A. MARTINEZ and NESTOR BENJAMIN R. MIJARES. The team bested more than 70 schools/colleges nationwide during the elimination round and regional selections. The team, accompanied by their mentor Jaclyn Marie L. Cauyan (KC Guidance Counselor), presented and defended their Business Plan last November 17, 2005 at the Discovery Suites, Makati City. As the Grand Prize winner, the team received P500,000 in CASH/G-CASH, a trophy, participation in the 1st GLOBE FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS CONFERENCE, internship at G-Xchange Inc., freebies from Globe and Nokia. In addition, our school received P500,000 in CASH/G-CASH, making the cash prize a total of one million.

Since G-CASH is a relatively new service of Globe, the company came up with this contest to: 1) work with students to design and develop products and services linked to Globe’s G-CASH Platform and thus encourage creative thinking and business-mindedness among college-level youth; 2) increase usability and market pervasiveness of G-CASH by widening its applications among various sectoral groups; and 3) work with schools as Globe’s contribution to nation-building by providing avenues that nurture excellence.

The teams went through a very rigorous process of elimination. The three best Concept Paper entries of North Luzon, the National Capital Region (NCR), South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao comprised the Regional Selection round of the competition, where the team emerged as one of the three Regional Semi-Finalists from the NCR. Subsequently, the Regional Semi-Finalists were required to submit a complete Product Paper/Business Plan of their application/service. From the merits of the submitted entries, KC was one of the five Regional Winners together with Comteq Computer and Business College (North Luzon), STI College - Lucena (South Luzon), College of St. John - Roxas (Visayas) and Central Mindanao University (Mindanao). For the final phase of the competition, the five regional finalists presented and defended their Business Plans to a panel of judges, composed of GLOBE’s top executives, prominent people from the business community, education and youth sectors.
